All writers, both established and novice, need editors at some point. Independent editors can help you determine what kind of editing services you need and when you may need or want them.

     The experienced editors on this site offer collaborative assistance and know-how and for a fee will read and edit your manuscript for structure, style, plot, character development, continuity, and so on. You can count on us for whatever you need, from proofreading and copy or line editing to developing proposals, managing projects, evaluating manuscripts, and more.

     Editors do it all. Our primary job is to take your words and help you turn them into your final product. In addition, we also manage projects and hire writers and other contractors. In fact, the editorial function is so broad that some of us are specialists (see FAQ's).

An agent may tell you that your manuscript needs work and advise you to think about hiring an independent editor...and may even give you some names. We are honored to be referred by any reputable agent.
